Starting a Sequel

While promoting my first novel, I haven’t written much new material. Today, I wrote 711 words and officially got started on the sequel to Sylas Sterling and the Lucas County Curse. I do have another work in progress that I plan to return to occasionally, but it feels good to be moving forward with Sylas again.

One random part of the process stood out to me. As I was starting a new Word document, I decided to save it right away, as everyone should, to make sure I did not lose my work. That meant I needed a name for the file.

At first, I considered something simple like SylasSterling2, but I wanted something a little more creative.

I ended up choosing a working title that I will not share here yet, since it could become the actual title. I will say that it included the word “Two.” Time will tell if it sticks. For the first book, I changed the main character’s name and the book title multiple times while trying to find something unique that I really liked.

Thanks,
J. Allen Tucker
