The Novel Writing Journey Begins

On July 1, 2018, I started writing again. It had been a while. I have started novels on several occasions, at this point, but I think it’s time to finish one.

I started a new story, and I wrote 1260 words that day. On July 2nd, I wrote an additional 1300 words. By July 3rd, I decided to challenge myself to write at least 1200 words every day. I have not set a specific time frame exactly. I would like to keep add at least this number of words every day to my novel for at least six weeks. On the third, I added an additional 1226 to my story.

On the fourth, I committed time to writing again, and I wrote 1215. Today is July the 5th, and earlier I added an additional 1259 words to my new and developing story.

I just watched a hour and a half webinar about blogging, and I decided to chronicle my journey to trying to write a novel.

Welcome to the journey. I do not plan to post the portions of the story that I write each day. Eventually, I want to share my novel with the world. As I go forward, I will write about my process and my challenges. I think this could be fun, and I hope it will be encouraging and beneficial to you.

Thanks,
J. Allen Tucker

Writing and Planning

I have continued working on the second Sylas Sterling novel. I’ve written about 2,250 words so far. The first book was nearly 49,000, so I’ve got a ways to go. In addition to starting that book, I’ve been brainstorming. So, I’ve also got some general idea of what I want the third book to be able about. If all goes according to plan, I hope to have a comic book available to tie into the third books release. If you have any feedback, I’d take it into consideration while the next book is in progress. One other note in regards to the first book. I made some additional corrections after the initial publication, so if you come across some punctuation errors I think they have mostly been fixed. Twitter, Word Count and Third Draft

Thanks again to the writing community on Twitter. Yesterday, I hit 250 Twitter followers! Thanks everyone. Today, I wrote 633 words. I finished another chapter in my second novel, and I also made a few small additions to my first novel’s third draft. Thanks, J. Allen Tucker

Starting a Sequel

While promoting my first novel, I haven’t written much. Today, I wrote 711 words and got started on the sequel to Sylas Sterling and the Lucas County Curse. I do have another work in progress, that I will return to occasionally. A random part of the process seemed interesting to me. As I was starting a new word document, I decided to save it, like everyone should to make sure that they don't lose their work. I realized that I needed a name for the document. At first, I considered, SylasSterling2, but I wanted something more creative. I went with a title that I will not share here, since the working title could be the actual title. I will say that it included the word “Two.” Time will tell if this title sticks. For the first book, I change the main character name and book title name multiple times trying to find something unique that I really liked. Thanks, J. Allen Tucker
